Soil survey reveals nutrient-rich soils in Chikmagalur district, Karnataka.
A study was done to understand the soil in Koranahalli subwatershed in Karnataka. Using remote sensing and GIS, researchers looked at 156 soil profiles to learn about their properties. They found 14 different types of soil, ranging from sandy clay loam to clay. The depth of the soil varied from shallow to very deep. The pH and CEC of the soil increased with depth. The organic carbon content ranged from low to medium. Overall, the soil in the area was classified up to the family level based on soil taxonomy revisions.
