New study reveals significant water loss in Indian river watershed
The goal of the study was to use a model to predict streamflow and water balance in the Ib River watershed in India. The researchers used rainfall and streamflow data from 1993 to 2011 to develop the model. They found that a significant amount of rainfall (26-50%) was lost through evapotranspiration. Surface runoff was higher in the southern region, groundwater was lower due to tile drainage, and lateral flow was higher in the same area. This study helps us understand how water behaves in this watershed with limited rainfall data.
