Traditional wheat cultivation in Vidarbha region declining, urgent policy changes needed.
The study looked at wheat production in Vidarbha, Maharashtra, from 1996 to 2016. They analyzed data on area, production, and productivity to see how wheat farming changed over time. They found that most districts had positive growth rates, except for Buldhana. The area used for wheat farming decreased, but productivity increased. The study suggests that traditional farming methods are still common in the region. The analysis showed that the area of land used for wheat had the biggest impact on production. This means that policies should focus on increasing the area of land used for wheat farming to promote sustainable production in the region.
