Toxic Levels of Heavy Metals Found in Popular Fish Species in Nigeria
The study looked at the levels of heavy metals in catfish, tilapia, and bagrid catfish from the Ogun River in Nigeria. They found that most of the heavy metal levels were below the safe limits set by health organizations, except for lead and chromium. This means that some of the fish from the river could be harmful to eat. Monitoring of pollutants in the Ogun River is important to protect consumers from potential health risks.
