Amazonian streams show surprising similarity in insect communities across vast distances.
The study looked at how different types of water bugs in Amazonian streams change as you move from one place to another. They found that the bugs in each stream were influenced by how far apart the streams were and the environment around them. Even though the bugs in each stream were different, they had similar traits, which means they were kind of alike in how they functioned. The bugs in different streams were more similar in traits when the environment was similar.
