Liver transplant recipients with COVID-19 have lower mortality rates.
Liver transplant recipients with COVID-19 were studied to see how they fared compared to non-transplant patients. The study found that while more transplant recipients needed ventilator support, their mortality rate was lower than non-transplant patients. Liver-related deaths were not seen in transplant recipients. Factors like age, creatinine levels, and non-liver cancer influenced the risk of death in transplant patients, but the type of immunosuppression used did not. The study shows that liver transplant recipients with COVID-19 have a lower risk of death compared to non-transplant patients.
