Revolutionizing Waste Management: Coir Pith Transformed into Enriched Vermicompost
Researchers successfully transformed coir pith waste into enriched vermicompost by using a combination of green manure plant, cow dung, and precomposting. They found that certain combinations led to a significant reduction in harmful substances like cellulose and lignin, while increasing beneficial plant nutrients. The vermicompost created was stable and showed high nutrient recovery rates, making it a valuable fertilizer. The best combinations for this process were T2(4:3:3) for one type of worm and T3(5:3:2) for another type.
