New okra varieties promise higher yields and better crop resilience.
A study on okra genetic variability found that different okra genotypes show variation in traits like plant height, fruit yield, and number of branches. Traits like number of primary branches and plant height had high genetic variability and heritability. Fruit yield was positively correlated with factors like plant height and number of fruits per plant. The study also showed that factors like fruit yield per plant and plant height have a direct positive effect on fruit yield, while factors like length of internode have a negative effect.
