Organic Farming Boosts Sesame Yields, Improves Livelihoods in Coastal Andhra Pradesh
In a study on sesame farming in Andhra Pradesh, researchers tested different natural fertilizers to see which one helped grow more seeds. They found that using a mix of farmyard manure and neemcake gave the best results, with higher seed yield (468.6 kg/ha) and profit ratio (1.46). However, the best practice for growing sesame overall was found to be a specific mix of synthetic fertilizers, which led to even higher seed yield (532.4 kg/ha) and monetary returns (2.18). This suggests that a combination of organic and synthetic fertilizers could be the way to get the most out of sesame crops in that region.
