New pearl millet hybrids show potential for higher grain yields.
Researchers crossed different types of pearl millet plants to create new hybrids and studied how these hybrids performed in terms of grain yield and other traits. They found that some of the new hybrids showed significant increases in grain yield compared to the parent plants. The highest increase in grain yield was seen in a specific hybrid called JMSA5-20175 x J-2598. This hybrid also showed improvements in other important traits related to yield. Overall, the study showed that combining certain types of pearl millet plants can lead to higher grain yield and better overall performance in the crop.
