The researchers studied 38 sugarcane hybrid clones to see which traits are linked to high cane yield. They found that traits like sucrose content, cane height, and number of millable canes are directly related to cane yield. Other traits like single cane weight and plant height indirectly contribute to high yield through brix yield. By selecting clones based on brix yield, single cane weight, and other key traits, farmers can grow high-yielding sugarcane.
