Future land changes in Northern China could impact global climate change.
The study looked at how changes in land use in Northern China will affect ecosystems in the future. They used different scenarios to see how things like plant growth, soil health, and erosion will be impacted. The results showed that environmentally focused scenarios helped protect forests and grasslands, while economically focused scenarios led to more agriculture and urban areas. Woodlands had the highest plant growth and soil nutrients, while cultivated land had the opposite. Grasslands were stable and could help fight climate change. Overall, scenarios that focused on the environment had better outcomes for ecosystems compared to those focused on the economy.
