Toxic heavy metals found in sediment at Daecheon Port pose health risks.
The study examined sediment at Daecheon Port to understand the distribution of organic materials and heavy metals. Different areas of the port had varying levels of fine and coarse sediment, with Station C having more pollution. Organic matter was higher in Station C, and heavy metal contamination was also more significant there. The high organic matter and C/N ratio at Station C suggested land-derived organic matter in the sediment. Overall, the study found a positive relationship between silt-clay content, organic matter, and heavy metal contamination in the sediment.
