Revolutionizing Soil Health: Tillage Boosts Nutrients and Water Retention
A study was conducted in southern Rajasthan to see how different ways of working the soil affect its properties. They found that traditional plowing increased soil porosity and water holding capacity compared to other methods. Zero tillage, where the soil is left undisturbed, led to higher levels of nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and sulfur in the soil after growing maize, wheat, and green gram crops.
