Revolutionizing chickpea farming: Conservation practices boost yields and profits!
The study aimed to improve chickpea productivity in rainfed areas using conservation agricultural practices. Different tillage methods and crop residue retention were tested in the experiment. Conservation tillage resulted in higher grain yield and net returns compared to reduced tillage. Keeping crop residues in the field increased soil moisture levels at different stages of plant growth. Crop residue retention also led to higher net returns and a better benefit-cost ratio.
