Chilli cultivation boosts income and fills gaps for farmers in Madhya Pradesh.
The study looked at how farmers in Patharia, Madhya Pradesh are adopting recommended chilli production techniques. Researchers surveyed 120 farmers from six villages and found that most farmers were middle-aged, had medium-sized families, and were illiterate. They also discovered that farmers had medium knowledge and adoption levels of the recommended technology. The main reasons farmers grew chillies were for income, less work, and soil benefits. Despite producing chillies at a low level, farmers found it to be a valuable source of income compared to other vegetables.
