Soil organic matter in Coimbatore soils affects bulk density, which is important for soil quality. More organic matter means lower bulk density, leading to better soil structure and productivity. A study of 200 soil samples showed that as soil organic matter increased, bulk density decreased. The best model to show this relationship was quadratic, with a high R2 value of 0.673. This means that soil organic matter plays a significant role in determining bulk density in Coimbatore soils.
