Highly porous aquifer system discovered in SW Nigeria coastal area.
The researchers used geoelectrical resistivity surveys to find potential groundwater sources in Ota, Nigeria. They found multiple layers of soil and rock, including a sandy aquifer, at different depths in the study area. The top of the aquifer was located between 40-83.5 meters in one location and 40-112.4 meters in another. The aquifer was found to be highly porous, with porosity values ranging from 28% to 74%. The study showed that the aquifer system in the area is complex and varies in depth due to the uneven terrain.
