New approach uncovers hidden timing constraints in process models from event logs.
The article presents a new method to find timing rules in event logs for process models. The researchers extended existing process mining techniques to include timing constraints in the models. They developed a three-step approach: first, extract time-dependent sets for each step in the model; second, use these sets to find timing rules from event logs; and third, create a time Petri net with the timing rules linked to the steps. The researchers applied their approach to a real-life scenario involving road traffic fines to demonstrate how timing constraints can be discovered from event logs.
