Maize hybrids boost crop yields, transforming food security in Nepal's middle hills
Maize hybrids were tested in different hill stations in Nepal to find the best performers for rainfed environments. The study used randomized complete block design with three replications. Results showed significant differences in grain yield among hybrids at different locations. JM-8 had the highest yield in one year, while RML-95/RL-197 performed the best in another year. These high-yielding hybrids will be further tested in farmers' fields, potentially becoming the top choices for maize production in Nepal's middle hills.
