New sweet pepper hybrids promise higher yields and better quality fruits!
The researchers studied different sweet pepper plants to find the best combinations for early fruiting and high yield. They grew seven types of plants and made five hybrid combinations. They found that some hybrids had better fruit yield than their parents, showing a mix of traits from both parents. Some hybrids also had higher levels of chlorophyll, sugar, and vitamin C in their fruits. The study suggests that selecting hybrids based on both individual performance and hybrid vigor is important for improving sweet pepper crops.
