New Study Reveals High Genetic Potential for Improved Leaf Yield
Researchers studied different types of chench plants to see how they vary in leaf yield and other characteristics. They found that there is a lot of genetic variation in the plants, especially in traits like number of branches, plant weight, and leaf size. Some traits, like number of branches and plant height, are mostly influenced by genetics rather than the environment. This means these traits can be easily selected for in breeding programs.
