High nitrogen levels and weed management boost pearl millet yields.
The study looked at how different levels of nitrogen and weed management methods affected the growth, yields, and profits of pearl millet. They tested various nitrogen levels and weed control practices in a field experiment. The results showed that using 150 kg of nitrogen per hectare led to the tallest plants and highest yields, while using 100 kg of nitrogen per hectare resulted in the highest seed yield. Among the weed management methods, using pendimethalin herbicide followed by hand weeding at 25 days after sowing gave the best results in terms of plant height, leaf number, and fodder yield. Overall, the combination of 100 kg of nitrogen per hectare and pendimethalin herbicide with hand weeding at 25 days after sowing was the most profitable option.
