Himalayan ecosystems in crisis as human activities degrade vital services
The degradation of the Himalayan ecosystem due to human activities is a major concern. These ecosystems provide various benefits to people, but activities like industrialization, urbanization, and agriculture are harming them. Around 60% of ecosystem services are being degraded or used unsustainably. This decline poses risks to human well-being and sustainable development. To address this, better management practices and the concept of paying for ecosystem services should be promoted to protect and enhance these valuable resources.
