Wheat Yields Boosted by Micronutrients and Organic Fertilizers, Transforming Food Security
In a Farm at Kanpur, scientists tested ways to make wheat plants grow better and produce more grain. They added small amounts of nutrients like sulphur, zinc, boron, and iron as well as organic material and helpful bacteria to the soil. These extra nutrients and microbes made the wheat plants' roots longer, more effective tillers, and increased the size of the grains they produced. The wheat treated with all the extras along with regular fertilizers yielded the most grain and earned the most money compared to the wheat that only got regular fertilizers. This study shows that by providing wheat plants with the right nutrients and beneficial microbes, farmers can boost their crop yields and income.
