Taiwan's Incineration Bottom Ash Recycling Generates Millions in Electricity Revenue.
Incineration plants in Taiwan produce a lot of ash from burning waste. This ash, called incineration bottom ash (IBA), can be recycled for use in making concrete and construction materials. Over the past decade, the amount of electricity generated from incineration has increased, leading to more income for the companies. However, the ratio of IBA generated compared to waste burned has decreased due to better plant efficiency. New regulations have been put in place to encourage the recycling of IBA in Taiwan to prevent pollution and promote its reuse in construction.
