New Study Reveals Key Traits for Developing High-Yielding Brinjal Varieties
The study looked at different traits in 33 types of brinjal plants to see which ones were most closely linked to high fruit yield. They found that the number of fruits per plant, marketable yield per plant, and number of branches per plant were strongly correlated with fruit yield. The researchers also discovered that traits like days to first fruit harvest and fruit weight had a direct positive impact on fruit yield. This means that by focusing on these specific traits, breeders can develop brinjal varieties that produce more fruit.
