Ex-post split-award auctions are commonly used in practice. In these auctions, suppliers can bid on different parts of the procurement quantity. A recent study found that Dutch combinatorial auctions are more efficient than first-price sealed-bid auctions. Laboratory experiments showed that a compound Dutch auction format is better in terms of efficiency and total procurement costs. This research provides valuable insights for procurement managers.
