New Okra Crosses Boost Fruit Yield by Over 35% - Game Changer!
Researchers studied 21 crosses of okra plants to see how much hybrid vigor they had compared to a standard check. They found significant differences in fruit yield and other traits among the plants. Some hybrids showed positive heterosis, with one cross (AOL-10-22 x GAO-5) having the highest increase in fruit yield at 35.01%. Other top-performing crosses included AOL-10-22 x VRO-6, HRB-55 x AOL-12-59, and JDNOL-11-01 x Arka Anamika. These findings suggest that hybrid vigor can be exploited to increase okra yield on a commercial scale.
