Optimizing irrigation and mulching boosts groundnut productivity in Odisha coastal plains.
The study looked at how different irrigation schedules and mulching techniques affect the productivity of groundnut plants in Odisha. They tested three irrigation levels and three types of mulching on plant growth and yield. The results showed that giving irrigation at 25, 45, and 70 days after sowing led to taller plants and more seeds per plant. However, irrigating at 25 and 70 days after sowing resulted in higher overall yield. Mulching with farmyard manure at 5 tons per hectare gave the best results in terms of pod and seed production, as well as overall yield. Overall, the study found that proper irrigation and mulching techniques can significantly improve groundnut productivity in the region.
