Water transfer project in China reduces shortages by 10% during drought.
Water scarcity is a big problem in China, so researchers studied how to better allocate water resources in Jiangsu Province. They created a model to simulate water distribution in the South-to-North Water Transfer Project. By analyzing different scenarios, they found that the project increased water supply and decreased water shortages. Even during extreme drought, the project could provide more water. This study can help policymakers manage water resources better in Jiangsu Province and other areas with similar projects.
