New water treatment technology removes harmful organic matter efficiently and affordably.
The researchers tested a new method to remove natural organic matter from water. They used a small-scale pilot plant with a special membrane and found it worked well in removing the organic matter. By using the right amount of a chemical called polyaluminium chloride, they were able to remove up to 57% of the organic matter. However, water with very high levels of organic matter may still be a challenge to treat with this method. This new technology could help improve water treatment in the future.
