China's Agricultural Productivity Soars While Kenya Struggles to Feed Population
The study compared agricultural resources and productivity in Kenya and China to help reduce food insecurity. Kenya has more natural resources per person, but China has higher food security due to increased crop and livestock productivity. China's crop protein productivity increased by 282% from 1961 to 2017, while Kenya's increased by 44%. The use of fertilizers, machinery, and pesticides positively impacted productivity in China. The structure of crop and livestock production also influenced productivity. Agrochemicals and production structure are key factors in improving productivity in Kenya.
