Private healthcare sector in India underutilized during Covid-19, hindering pandemic response.
The private healthcare sector in India has potential resources that can help during pandemics. A survey of 213 private healthcare workers found that many feel the sector's contribution has been suboptimal. They believe the private sector can improve patient care, provide equipment, and offer virtual consultation services for non-COVID patients. Most respondents think the government has not involved the private sector enough and that they should be part of policy-making. There is a need for a better way for the private sector to work with the public sector during national emergencies.
