Infertile men may need more frequent semen tests for accurate diagnosis
Analyzing over 2,000 semen samples from 1,075 men, researchers wanted to find out if waiting for 4 weeks between two semen tests is the best way to assess male fertility problems. The data showed that waiting longer than 4 weeks might be better for more accurate results. For volume, concentration, sperm count, motility, and shape of the sperm, different time intervals gave the most helpful information. Having just one semen sample may not be enough to spot issues, so it's important to do multiple tests with the right timing based on initial results. This suggests that when looking at male infertility, customizing the timing between repeat semen tests could be essential for better outcomes, and more research is needed in this area.
