Diabetes Epidemic Sweeps Latin America and Caribbean, Straining Healthcare Systems
Type 2 diabetes is a growing problem in Latin America and the Caribbean, especially in the Caribbean region. The costs of dealing with this disease are high in Central American countries and the Caribbean Islands. Unfortunately, prevention, diagnosis, and management of type 2 diabetes are not up to par in this region. To tackle this issue, effective policies that involve different disciplines need to be put in place to reduce the burden of type 2 diabetes in Latin America and the Caribbean.
