Livestock in Hombori district, Mali, adapt to varying resources by moving around and sometimes getting extra food. A study looked at how many animals were there and how much food was available during the dry season. They found that despite many animals, only a small amount of the available food was actually eaten. This shows that claims of widespread overgrazing in the area are not accurate.
