The new Securities Law in China was approved to improve the capital market. Investors reacted positively to the law, especially for companies with good compliance and investor protection. The law directs market funds towards main board companies. The market response was strongest on the approval day. This study adds to the understanding of how security laws impact markets and provides insights for implementing the new Securities Law.
