Intercropping popcorn and beans boosts crop yields, improving food security for smallholder farmers.
The study looked at how different combinations of popcorn maize and rajmash plants, along with varying levels of nitrogen, affected their growth. The best results were seen when popcorn maize and rajmash were planted together in rows of 2:2, with both plants receiving 100% recommended nitrogen levels. This combination led to more leaves, taller plants, and greater dry matter accumulation for popcorn maize, as well as taller plants, more leaves, branches, and dry matter accumulation for rajmash.
