Helicopter landing helideck withstands maximum stress, ensuring safe offshore operations.
The study analyzed the strength of a helideck on a Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) ship to ensure it can handle helicopter landing loads. Using a computer program, the researchers found that the maximum stress on the helideck was 173.2 MPa, well below the allowable limit of 222.4 MPa set by DNV classification. The maximum deformation was 7.9 mm, with the stress concentrated in the web plate of a supporting beam. Overall, the helideck structure met the required safety standards for helicopter landings.
