New study reveals how vegetation impacts water evaporation in urban areas.
The study looked at how much water evaporates from the surface, water bodies, and plants in Batam City. They used Remote Sensing data to estimate this evaporation rate. Two methods were used to calculate the evaporation rate: the energy balance method and the Penman-Monteith method. The results showed that the potential evaporation rate in Batam City ranged from 37.05 mm/day to 37.21 mm/day. Areas with dense vegetation had higher evaporation rates, especially when the soil was wet.
