Local governments learn from Great Recession, boost savings for future downturns.
Local governments in the Fourth District studied their savings before and after the Great Recession to see if they were prepared for economic downturns. They looked at financial statements from 25 cities and 25 counties. The researchers found that the Great Recession helped local governments understand how much savings they needed to survive future economic crises.
