River Salandi in India polluted with toxic chemicals, poses health risks.
The researchers studied the water quality of the River Salandi in Odisha, India, by collecting samples from different locations in 2015 and 2016. They analyzed various factors like chemicals and bacteria in the water to calculate the Water Quality Index. The results showed that the water quality was not good in both years, with 2016 being worse than 2015. The river was found to be polluted with substances like chromium, iron, chloride, fluoride, and harmful bacteria, especially during rainy and post-rainy seasons. Pollution levels decreased from upstream to downstream.
