Small and marginal farmers in India face challenges in earning a livelihood due to high input costs in agriculture. Integrated farming systems (IFS) combine livestock and crop production to reduce costs and improve income. IFS help small farmers meet their basic needs like food, feed, and fuel by recycling waste from one component to another. Research shows that relying solely on crop cultivation is not enough to meet food and nutrition demands. Multi-component farming through IFS is essential for economic profitability, soil sustainability, and environmental preservation.
