Woody plant diversity in Sudan's Alfula area reveals surprising ecological patterns.
The researchers studied the plants in Alfula, Sudan to see what kinds were there and how many of each. They looked at 58 different species of trees and shrubs in 16 families. The most common plant was Geuara senegalensis. They found that the plants were spread out in groups, not evenly. The total number of plants was 866 per hectare.
