Foreign Worker Dependency Threatens Malaysian Construction Industry Productivity
The Malaysian construction industry relies heavily on foreign workers, impacting productivity. To support industry goals, it's crucial to increase local labor participation. A study in Petaling District, Selangor, surveyed 45 industry players to understand factors affecting local labor involvement. The findings highlight challenges in recruiting local talent, leading to a preference for foreign workers. Improving productivity among construction stakeholders, especially contractors, could help boost the number of local workers in the industry.
