Pruning and Paclobutrazol Combo Boosts Mango Yield and Quality Dramatically!
Branch tip pruning combined with paclobutrazol was studied to improve flowering, yield, and quality of Banganpalli mangoes. The experiment found that using 2.0 ml of paclobutrazol per linear meter canopy resulted in the highest number of panicles and fruit set, while 1.5 ml gave the largest fruit size and yield. Pruning branches to 5 cm and having two whorl leaves also increased fruit production and quality. The best results were seen when using 2.0 ml of paclobutrazol with 5 cm branch tip pruning, leading to the highest number of panicles, flowering percentage, and fruit set per panicle.
