Land certification in Ethiopia boosts crop productivity and reduces disputes among farmers.
Land certification in rural Ethiopia improves tenure security, land investment, and crop productivity. A study in Gozamin District found that most farm households feel secure about their land rights after certification. Disputes decreased, and land management practices improved. Factors like farm size, distance from homestead, access to credit, and fear of government land take-over influence terracing and manure application. Crop productivity increased significantly post-certification. Policy makers should focus on reducing sources of insecurity to enhance farmers' confidence in their land rights and improve land-related investments.
