High nitrogen doses after irrigation boost wheat and maize yields significantly.
The study looked at how different nitrogen sources affect wheat and maize yields. They tested three nitrogen fertilizers (urea, ammonium nitrate, and ammonium sulfate) applied before or after irrigation. Results showed that applying nitrogen after irrigation led to better growth and higher yields for both crops. This method also increased the uptake of important nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium in the grains. Overall, applying nitrogen after irrigation resulted in the highest nitrogen recovery compared to applying it before irrigation. In conclusion, the best results were seen when nitrogen was applied after irrigation for both wheat and maize crops.
