City of Almere pioneers urban agriculture integration in urban planning
Cities are looking for ways to feed people sustainably, so they are starting to include urban agriculture in their plans. The city of Almere in the Netherlands has successfully integrated agriculture into its urban planning over 55 years. This required new ways of thinking and working together across different fields. Agriculture has always been part of the city's plans, but it took time to fully include it in urban development. This shows that urban planning can change to include agriculture in peri-urban areas.
